Website Update

With 2008 drawing to a close, it was timely to undertake a radical update of the design of the site.

 

Feedback from users highlight a number of key factors that we felt needed to be implemented.  They included: -
  • Better Calendering capabilities
  • User Management that works and integrates seemlessly with other compoents
  • Less clutter
  • Simpler User Interface

To assist in impementing these features, we have actualy completed a complete redesign of the website, starting with using a different Content Management System (CMS) as the backbone of the site.  Previously the site was powered by PHP-Nuke, but this CMS, while powering thousands of sites across the internet, had a number of limitations.  The site has been ported to Joomla!, a CMS growing in popularity, and which enabled us to implement all of the requests noted above.  We have then added into the mix the following Joomla components: -

We have asked a number of our users to BETA test this new look website.  The feedback has been overwelmingly positive, and as such, we are pleased to be able to implement the changes on the live site.
